2019 Lecture Series
ALL LECTURES ARE IN THE VISITOR CENTER AT THE PARK

SATURDAY, JANUARY 5, 2019 AT 1 PM: 
Dr. Andy Waskie of Temple University will return as General Meade to present a lecture for us. He will be portraying General George Meade--Soldier, Combat Veteran, Engineer and builder of 10 lighthouses (including Old Barney), Civil War Commander, Victor of the Battle of Gettysburg, Savior of the Union, Patriot, Patron of the Arts, Citizen and Governor of the South during the Reconstruction period.    "General Meade's" annual visit to Barnegat Lighthouse has become a tradition and is very popular with our members and the public.  


SATURDAY, JANUARY 19, 2019 AT 1 PM:
PRESENTER:  JON FIORELLA
TOPIC:  VERY SPECIAL PEOPLE - This is the story of the real people that exhibited in the circus sideshows.


SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 2, 2019 AT 1 PM:
PRESENTER:  BEN WURST, CONSERVE WILDLIFE FOUNDATION OF NEW JERSEY
TOPIC:  THE PEREGRINE FALCON - The program will include a discussion of the life history of peregrines and their recovery and management in New Jersey.

SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 16, 2019 AT 1 PM:
PRESENTER:  JEFF BROWN
TOPIC:  THE WAR TO END ALL WARS - The program is on the life of the Doughboy and will include a PowerPoint presentation and a display of original artifacts from World War.


SATURDAY, MARCH 16, 2019  AT I PM:
PRESENTER:  PETE BACINSKI
TOPIC:  THE WORLD OF BIRDS AROUND US HERE IN NEW JERSEY - A program designed for the whole family (children ten and over) featuring backyard birds and birds you can see right here in the garden state if you are willing to take a ride to a special location.


SATURDAY, MARCH 23, 2019  at 1 PM 
PRESENTER:  TODD POVER, SENIOR WILDLIFE BIOLOGIST AT CONSERVE WILDLIFE FOUNDATION OF NEW JERSEY
TOPIC:  THE BARNEGAT LIGHT PIPING PLOVER NESTING SITE - Barnegat Light was once one of the most important sites in New Jersey for beach nesting birds, including endangered piping plover.  Join Todd to learn about the restoration project to make the site more suitable to nesters once again.
